Privacy
Last updated October 27, 2026.
This page says plainly what Dava Labs LLC, doing business as Artmoe (“we”), keeps when you use artmoe.com, why, for how long, who helps us, and how to ask us to delete it. Artmoe is offered only to people in the United States, and your information is processed in the United States.
What we keep
- The photos you upload. We shrink them and remove hidden details such as the location where they were taken.
- The previews and portraits we make for you, and a one-sentence description of your pet.
- If you ask us to fix a portrait, what you asked for: the changes you chose and anything you typed.
- If you tell us your pet’s name, we keep it with your portrait request and use it only on your portrait pages, in our emails to you and, if you ask for it, on your portrait and its print. We delete it with your photos, unless you order; then we keep it with your order until you ask us to delete your data.
- Your email address, if you give it to us or at checkout.
- Your order: what you bought, the amounts and the tax. Stripe collects your card and billing address, and your shipping address for a print. We do not receive or keep full card numbers.
- Copies of the emails we send you and the messages you send us, so we can answer questions about them.
- Whether each email we send you was delivered, was delayed, could not be delivered, or was marked as spam, and which links in it were opened and when. The links in our emails pass through our own site first, so we can see which one was opened; we do not record your internet address or your device with it. Some email services open links themselves to check them for safety; we try to tell those apart and leave them out of our counts. We use this only to see which of our emails are useful (for example, whether one led to an order) and to improve them, and, as explained below, to stop reminders and our other marketing emails to an address that cannot receive them. We do not use hidden images to see whether you opened an email.
- Your choices: whether you accepted our terms and approved your preview or your portrait, and when; whether you chose to use a photo our photo check flagged; and whether you opted out of arbitration.
- If you unsubscribe from reminders, a fingerprint (a hash) of your email address instead of the address itself, and which of our emails you unsubscribed from. We also keep this fingerprint if our emails to your address cannot be delivered at all (for example, because the address no longer exists) or if you mark one of our emails as spam, and then we stop sending you reminders and our other marketing emails, just as if you had unsubscribed. Emails about your portrait and your order still go. We keep the fingerprint only so we never send you reminders or other marketing emails again, even after your other data is deleted, and to count how many people unsubscribe from each of our emails.
- If you asked us to write when portraits of people are ready: your email address and which portrait you asked about, nothing else. We keep it until we have written to you, or for 12 months, whichever comes first, and delete it at once if you ask.
- A scrambled code made from your internet address and the date, used only to limit how many free previews can be started from one connection each day. It is not your address, changes every day, and is deleted with your photos.
- A record of the steps you take on our site during a visit (for example, choosing a photo, asking for a change to your portrait, or leaving the page), the kind of device you use and whether you opened our site inside the Facebook or Instagram app. Your browser keeps a random code for the visit until you close the tab; it is not a cookie and is not your internet address. If you start a portrait, this record is kept with it, so it is linked to your email if you give us one. We use it only to see where our site is hard to use and to improve it.
- Unless you turn it off, a record of your visit for Meta, our advertising platform: the pages you view and the steps you take (choosing a painting, asking for a preview, adding your photo to an order, starting checkout, buying and the amount paid), with your browser’s details, your internet address and a cookie. See “Cookies and tracking” below.
- Unless you turn it off, if you came to our site through a link from one of our ads or posts: where the link came from (for example Facebook), its campaign, and the ad’s name and number, kept with your portrait request. See “Cookies and tracking” below.
- If you write a review: your stars, your words, and the first name and dog’s name you choose to give. We may show your review on our site with only that first name and dog’s name, never your email or surname, and we never leave a review out because it is unfavorable.
What we never do
- We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share a record of your visit with Meta, our advertising platform, as “Cookies and tracking” below explains, and you can turn that off.
- We do not use your photos to train any AI model, and the terms we have with the companies that process your photos do not allow them to train their models on them either.
- We do not use your photos to identify anyone. We do not create, collect or keep face templates, face prints or any other biometric identifiers.
- We do not use your photos or your portrait in our ads.
Why we use it
- To make, show and deliver your previews, portraits and prints.
- To send your preview link and order emails.
- If you give us your email for your preview, to send up to 5 short reminders while you have not ordered. Every reminder has an unsubscribe link.
- If you start an order on our order page and leave before paying, to send up to 3 short reminders about that order, each with a link back to it, while you have not ordered. Every reminder has an unsubscribe link.
- If you order, to ask you once for a review of each order, about 7 days after your portrait arrives. The email has an unsubscribe link.
- To keep the site safe, prevent abuse, handle disputes, keep tax and accounting records, and follow the law.
Who helps us
Each of these companies gets only what it needs for its job, and may use it only to do that job for us:
- Replicate, and the maker of the image model it runs (currently OpenAI): your photos, to paint the portrait.
- Anthropic: your photos, to check they will work and to describe your pet’s coat. No name or email.
- Stripe: payment, billing and shipping details, and sales tax.
- Resend: your email address and the emails we send you. It tells us whether each email was delivered, could not be delivered, or was marked as spam.
- Railway and Cloudflare: hosting our site, database and stored images.
- Our print partner and its carriers, for print orders: the image and your shipping address.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram), where we run our ads: the record of your visit described above, and, when you give us your email, a scrambled (hashed) form of it, never the address itself, so it can match a purchase to the ad you saw. It never receives your photos, portraits or name. It uses this to measure our ads and to choose who sees them, and also under Meta’s own privacy policy.
We use Cloudflare Turnstile to keep automated programs from misusing our free previews. It checks your browser when you start a portrait; Cloudflare’s privacy policy applies to that check.
We may change these companies, and this list will be updated when we do. We also share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone’s safety, or with a company that takes over our business, which must keep the promises on this page.
Cookies and tracking
We use an advertising measurement tool, the Meta pixel (a small piece of code and a cookie), from Meta, where we run our ads on Facebook and Instagram, and our server also tells Meta when you ask for a preview, add your photo to an order, start checkout or buy. This lets us see which ads lead to visits and orders, and lets Meta show our ads to people likely to be interested, on its own apps and sites. Under some state laws this counts as “sharing” personal information for advertising.
You can turn it off at any time with the “Your privacy choices” link at the bottom of every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to turn it off and the tool does not load. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. Your browser also remembers a few things on your own device, such as the email you last typed, so you need not type it again.
When you arrive through a link that names one of our campaigns, as the links in our ads and posts do, we also set a cookie of our own, an ad cookie, for 7 days. It holds where the link came from (for example Facebook), the campaign, and the ad’s name and number, nothing about you. If you start a portrait, these are kept with it, so we can see which of our ads lead to portraits and orders. The ad cookie is part of our advertising measurement: it is not set or read once you turn that off, or when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
For how long
- Uploaded photos: deleted from our systems 30 days after upload.
- Previews you did not buy, and anything you typed when asking us to change them: deleted from our systems after 30 days, even if you left without saving your portrait. The changes you chose from our list stay with your portrait request until you ask us to delete your data.
- The record of the steps of your visit: deleted from our systems after 13 months, or sooner when you ask us to delete your data.
- Copies held by the companies that paint your portrait: they process your photos only briefly, but may keep copies in their safety and abuse-prevention logs for up to 30 days after processing, or longer if their systems flag an image as unlawful.
- Portraits you bought: kept so you can download or reorder them, until you ask us to delete them.
- Your review: a review not yet published is deleted when you ask us to delete your data. A published review is kept, and may be shown on our site, until you ask us to remove it.
- Your email address and our emails to each other, with whether each email was delivered: kept until you ask us to delete them.
- Which links in our emails were opened: deleted from our systems after 13 months, or sooner when you ask us to delete your data.
- Order records, your approved preview and your acceptance of our terms: kept for as long as tax law and the time limits for legal claims require, at least 3 years.
Deleted items can remain in routine backups for a short further period before they are overwritten.
Your choices and rights
Whichever state you live in, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, to give you a copy, or to delete it. Email hello@artmoe.com from the address you used with us. We may need to confirm it is you. We answer within 45 days and never charge for a request or treat you differently for making one.
If we turn down a request, you can ask us to look again by replying to our answer. Deleting removes your photos, previews, portraits, email address, our emails to you and the record of which links you opened; we keep the order records the law requires, without your email where we can.
You can unsubscribe from reminders and our other marketing emails at any time with the link in each one. Order emails still arrive.
You can opt out of advertising measurement (the “sharing” described under “Cookies and tracking”) with the “Your privacy choices” link at the bottom of every page, or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal.
Photos of people
Today we paint pets only and ask you not to upload photos in which a person can be recognized. If a person does appear, the image model treats the photo as a picture to paint from; neither we nor the companies that help us are permitted to use it to recognize or identify anyone. If you believe a photo of you was uploaded without your agreement, write to us and we will delete it.
Keeping it safe
We use reasonable safeguards, such as encrypted connections, limited access and deleting photos on schedule. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that information will never be lost or seen by someone who should not see it. If that happens and it affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
Children
The site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
If we change this page, the date at the top will change. If a change is important, we will say so on the site before it takes effect, and we will not use information you already gave us in a new way without asking you.
